The Burgundy Region is one of France’s most celebrated wine and gastronomy destinations, where vineyards, medieval villages, and traditional cuisine create a rich cultural experience. On this bike tour you will uncover the Burgundy region, one of france best cycling destination like a local !

  • Ride through historic cities like Dijon and Beaune, the heart of Burgundy’s prestigious wine regions, Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
  • Follow the Burgundy Canal, a flat and well-marked cycling route, where scenic roads wind through charming villages, rolling vineyards, and the picturesque Ouche Valley.
  • Experience Burgundy’s timeless landscapes, where centuries-old wine estates, stone farmhouses, and grand châteaux blend seamlessly with the region’s natural beauty.

    Day 1 Highlights 

    From the restaurant, head downhill through a dense forest before reaching the burgundy canal route.

    • Next, you get to cycle on the Burgundy canal route. It is flat towpath alongside the canal with tree lining the banks and locks about every mile.
    • Continue your ride through the ouche valley and along the ouche river as you make your way to your hotel.

     

    Day 2 Highlights

     
    • Explore the auxois, another region in Cote d’Or known for its rolling hills, forfitfed castle and numeros charolais cows gazing in meadows.
    • Pedal past Château de Commarin, a well-preserved renaissance castle with elegant gardens and historic interiors
    • Continue to Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, a medieval hilltop village featuring a 13th-century château and panoramic views.

    Day 3 Highlights

    • Pedal to Savigny les Beaune, know for it’s red wines as well as 14 th century chateaux which featuring a collection of fighter aircrafts, race cars, fire trucs and more…
    • Join a local winemaker on a journey from grape harvesting to bottling. Explore the estate’s cellars and end your visit with an intimate tasting.
    • Experience the walled city of Beaune with tour of the caves of Bouchard ainé & fils and a visit of Fallot mustard factory.
    • Take a tour of the hospices the Beaune, a former charitable almshouse known for it multi color glaze tiles and wine auction held november.

    Day 4 Highlights

     

     Cycle on the voie des vignes, a route that goes from Dijon to Santenay. This route goes from village to villages among the vineyards (making it almost traffic free). It passes by famous grand cru vineyards of the cote de nuit and the cote de beaune and is a combination of rolling terrain with some short climbs suitable for intermediate cyclists. The first wine village you cross is Pommard, it is known for bold, tannic reds, built for aging.

    Later that day as you ride your bicycle through vineyard-covered hills with stunning panoramic views over the Côte de Beaune you will arrive in Meursault.  The town is famous  for its rich, buttery Chardonnays and is a must-visit for white wine lovers. Nearby are the villages of Puligny-Montrachet & Chassagne-Montrachet. These villages produce some of the world’s most prestigious white wines, including grand cru vineyards like Montrachet. End the day passing by the village of Volnay, a pinot noir village that produces silky, flora wines.

          Day 5 Highlights

          Today, you route has rolling terrain (but very gentle climbs) , it is 37 miles long and goes through Burgundy’s most famous villages and vineyards parcels (also called climat). These have have been considered as part of the (Patrimoine Mondiale de l’unesco) since 2015. The route is easily recognisable, there are signposts with a white grape on brown background along the way.

          • Cycle in the legendary Côte de Nuits, where rolling vineyards produce some of the world’s most sought-after Pinot Noirs.
          • Pedal through Gevrey-Chambertin, one of Burgundy’s most prestigious wine villages, renowned for its powerful, age-worthy pinot noir wines from grand cru vineyards.
          • Explore the charming wine town of Nuits-Saint-Georges, known for its historic tasting cellars and structured, spice-driven wines.
          • Take a break at Clos de Vougeot, a 12th-century vineyard estate built by Cistercian monks, now home to Burgundy’s prestigious wine brotherhood, the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
          • In vosne romanée, don’t forget to take a breat in front of the romanée conti vineyard plot, one of the most prestigious grand cru in the world.
          • Participate in tasting in the town of Pernand vergeless, a grand cru village nestled at the foot of the corton hills.

          Dating back to the 12th century and surrounded by a lake and botanical garden La Bussiere is set on 15 acres. Purchased by the Cummings family in 2005, the abbey offers a unique experience. The rooms which all have views on the lake have been individually designed to provide the greatest comfort.  Small Shetland ponies wander the lawns and everywhere the history of the many stone buildings has been preserved.           This 18th century building has a long history. It was once the home of a wine maker, then a famous restaurant and is now a luxurious hotel since 2014. Each of the 9 rooms and suites was designed and decorated with elegance and sobriety, a subtle blend of raw and refined design. The names of the rooms are based on the name of various wine Plots in Burgundy.
